New Study Shows European Businesses Overwhelmed by Security Data
In my article “The Top Three Problems IT Managers Face and How to Overcome Them” I talk about Problem #1 - Tough Data Flow. It is more then a decade ago that this came first up between in a meeting with the CFO of an European company; at a time where most weren’t too concerned with the amount of from their security systems.
Has anything changed since then?
Not really. As matter of fact the data flow seems to get out of hand.

A new study finds that European businesses are unable to deal with the vast amount of data generated from security devices such as firewalls and anti-virus software. The study, sponsored by Micromuse — which was recently acquired by IBM - reports that almost a third (30%) of IT directors questioned admitted that the amount of security data generated is far too great for them to examine to identify potential security threats.

Not really. As matter of fact the data flow seems to get out of hand.
Do you know how much data you have available? Are you able to get all of your data? Do you control your data?
We all have experienced that we registered a product with a company and never had back from them.Think they know what to do with their data? Do they care?
Or are you just ignoring a vast majority of it—because it’s too much to handle? What can you change in the short run?
