Why Leadership Can’t Overlook The Missing Of E-Mails

Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.
“Loosing” e-mails, avoiding to use the proper channels—that all only shows one thing: There is no leadership whatsoever.
That by itself is bad enough, but what makes the situation really worst is the will to cover up and legalize after the fact by the few there were elected and their buddies.
A bullying kindergarten clique comes to mind, not the administration of a democracy or a well run business.
Yet, fixing the situation is very easy:

“Loosing” e-mails, avoiding to use the proper channels—that all only shows one thing: There is no leadership whatsoever.
That by itself is bad enough, but what makes the situation really worst is the will to cover up and legalize after the fact by the few there were elected and their buddies.

Yet, fixing the situation is very easy:
- Step up and apologize. Yes, leaders do apologize. Leaders take the responsibility for the mistakes their team members make.
- Stop procrastinating—the situation will not get any better.
- Fire those that don’t add value but rather stop progress and change.
- Prosecute those that think they are above the law. Of course this is rather hard to accomplish when the so called leader sees her- or himself above the law.
- Ensure that laws are followed.
- Open the lines of communication. That means start to listen—even when one does not like what one hears.
- Accept compromises.
- Stop micromanaging.
- Put together teams that does not see the own filling pockets as the main agenda.
- Find the experts and have them clean up the mess.
