What is delegation?
Delegation is passing a clearly defined task including the necessary competencies and responsibilities from a superior to a less superior. If used properly motivation, quantity and quality of work can be increased.

Unfortunately, very often the delegated task is not even clearly defined, wouldn’t you agree?
Delegating a task without the needed competencies and responsibilities leads no only to frustration but in most cases to a failure. Many teams suffer from those pseudo-delegated tasks. Accountability cannot be delegated and should not be delegated, but it seems that those managers that do delegate responsibility with little or no direction usually try to shed themselves of the accountability of that tasks failure, but are more than willing to take credit when it is a success.
