Self Evaluation Forms

A great many companies hand out self evaluation forms to their employees: Yearly, quarterly, some even monthly.

But it’s almost always a top down approach.

How many places have you seen where the employees actually not only had to evaluate themselves, but also evaluated their managers?

Managers are afraid to be evaluated.

We do that where I work. They call it a 360 degree review. The manager sends out the questionaire to all of his/her employees as well as several customers both internal and external. All the responses are then compiled and give the manager a good idea of what they are doing right and what they are NOT doing right.

Actually it’s something that is done at some Scandinavian companies as a regular thing to go along with the employee evaluations. It makes sense, really.

Because I value your thoughtful opinions, I encourage you to add them.
