Another one from my mom
It really taste better with black bread.

Alternatively use dark bread and toast it until it becomes hard. Spread tomato paste evenly over the bread. Add some black or white pepper if you like it spicy. Take a sardine, remove the bones and lay it on the bread. Spread some tomato paste over it and top with the cheese.
No put it in the oven at medium heat for some five minutes to get everything hot. Broil I for a few moments to get the cheese melted.
