New Zealand’s Kiwi fruit was originally known as “Chinese Gooseberry”. The fruit was first shipped to the United States in 1962, where it was re-named “Kiwi” after New Zealand’s national bird - the Kiwi bird. New Zealand still exports large quantities of Kiwi fruit to the United States. Kiwi fruit is high in antioxidant Vitamin C and a good source of fiber, Vitamin E and Potassium.
