Horrified?

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

I am not sure anymore I should believe President Bush his comment from yesterday of being horrified. Why? Because he immediately announces that “there is a right for people to bear arms, but that all laws must be followed”.
Isn’t that making it a bit too easy? There are always some who do not follow the laws…

Remember—after 9/11 a lot of laws got changed. To protect us. Now—our protection doesn’t matter.

Makes you wonder whom President Bush is trying to protect from whom or what…

This is a time of true leadership, yet once again the Bush administration proves that they can move and act within a heartbeat when it suits their agenda, but not when it comes to protecting the innocent.

Were you hoping for more after yesterdays nightmare?

Do you think that our politicians are acting right now?

Who is leading America thru this time of grief?

Quite frankly, I am tired of this man, throwing religion around when it suits him. He readily throws his hands in the air asking for God to protect us, but has no problem doing the exact opposite when it come to our soldiers in Iraq.

    Talk about a hypocrite.

I am not a big Bush fan either, but I cannot help but notice that it didn’t take long to blame this on him as well!! Everything seems to be Bushes fault!! What I see happening, already, is knee-jerk reactions. Instead of waiting to hear all of the facts, the anit-gun forces are already gearing up. There will be little said about WHY the shooter did what he did. This by the way will be true of the pro-gun forces, who are also gearing up. And lost in all the hype will be realistic answers to realistic problems. Over 30 people are now dead, because a kook picked up a gun and pulled the trigger. The key word here is ‘Kook”.
I believe we do need a REALISTIC look at our 20,000+ gunlaws. But not by knee-jerk reactionist on EITHER side. And the first thing to remember is why we have the 2nd amendment in the first place. (Hint…Its NOT because of sports or hunting!)

I agree - there has to be some effort made to get a change.

And while I am not blaming President Bush - what better time than now to get some changes done? I think he is missing out on a good opportunity here.

I may not have been clear in my respnse, I don’t blame him for the wrongs caused - I hate that he doesn’t do anything tangible to make things better, he has all this power to do what he wants all the time, but where it really matters he says lets pray to God. God gave each and every one the ability to effect change, then do it, and stop whining to God about problems you are perfectly suited to control.

Need I remind one and all of the complete text of the Second Amendment, United States Constitution (with emphasis added):

A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Note well, readers, the qualification of “well-regulated militia.”

    Have I been clear enow?

Because I value your thoughtful opinions, I encourage you to add them.
