A fire in the Anna-Amalia-Library has destroyed around 30,000 books. 50,000 books could be saved, some of them severely damaged from the water. The books are mainly from the 16th, 17th and 18th century, most of them originals. Luckily the Martin Luther Bible from 1534 was not destroyed.
The library has one million books 300,000 of them are older then 100 years.
