My answer would be managers should probably touch base with employees every day or so. This is not to say a 'formal' meeting is required, but certainly there should an open ongoing communication base.

I would suspect it depends a lot upon the relationship between the manager and employee. When hiring someone new, I would expect frequent communications, and then as needed by the relationship.

No one should be left out.</description>
