connection rejected by remote interface

When trying to connect to my database server I got the following message:
connection rejected by remote interface
Turns out the Delphi for PHP replaced the existing gds32.dll with a newer version in the system32 folder. Replacing it with an older version (system32\old) fixed the problem.
