The power of these questions cannot be underestimated, especially if you want to lead and not manage."

Balanced Teams

A few days ago someone asked how one can put together a balanced team.
I asked: “Why does the team has to be balanced?”

Boy, did I upset with that question! But let’s take a deeper look here, shall we? For many of us the team we know that worked together forever are our parents. Are they always balanced? Of course not!

So why would someone want a balanced team?

To avoid confrontation?

To avoid progress?

Look around - how many of the teams you know are balanced?

For some a balanced team is nothing else than a group of “Ye” Sayers. For me it is clear: When I put together a team that is balanced today and still balanced 10 years down the road, something went terribly wrong!

Or do you honestly believe that all team members would change in the same way?

Or not change at all?
