Additional Troop Increase Approved

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

President Bush did not comment on his decision during the second day of a six-day Latin America tour. But aides released a letter he signed Friday night aboard Air Force One as he flew to Uruguay from Brazil, asking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for $3.2 billion in emergency funding to pay for the additional units. He proposed cuts in other spending to offset the cost.

Of course—cuts in other spending to offset the costs…

But cutting where? So far all we have seen is that the Federal Government spent money faster than some think it can be printed.

What kind of future are we building up for our children—or even the next president?

Many polls show that the majority of the US citizens isn’t happy anymore with sending out more troops.

So who approved the troop increase then?

Is a leader without followers still a leader?

I can think of a billion different places to cut spending, but none will ever happen.

The increase - People want out of Iraq, but people also don’t want us to lose in Iraq. How do you balance that? You win, then leave.

So we surge, and see if we can win… sounds right to me.

Is everything you win worth fighting for?

    You say:
So we surge, and see if we can win… sounds right to me.That very much sounds like what many politicians are saying when they do not know how to handle a bad situation.

How long to you want to surge - to find out if you are able to win?

Isn’t it way more important to find out what happened to leadership?

Because I value your thoughtful opinions, I encourage you to add them.
