Judge Judy - what planet are you from?

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

A friend told me that she just watched a Judge Judy show where Judy got all over a lady who uses pre-paid credit cards. Apparently Judy never heard of those and didn’t believe that lady.

Should someone as uneducated as Judy actually be in the position of a judge? Don’t get me wrong—there is always something new we can learn, but shouldn’t a judge be a bit more objective and especially willing to learn new things? Without passing a judgement?

Maybe so in some places, but if you remember the judge who allowed Tank Johnson to play (can you imagine a judge ruling in a criminal case wearing the shirt of his favorite team?)—then it isn’t that much of a surprise anymore, right?

Isn’t it time that some of our judges get a reality check and that measures to check the objectivity of judges and their rulings are put into place?

Oh Lord! - Answer

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

This is one badly to read piece of coding. It also begs the question of the GUI: The user will get told field by field that there has to be a text…

To simplify the coding—b_valid should have been set to False at the beginning of the coding. The fields and their state—filled or not—should be part of a class. Have the class members return the feedback if filled out properly or not.

Customers? Customer service?

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

Customer Service these days seem all to be about screwing people over. Remember the case about the guy who got the empty package at CompUSA?

I just got a bill with a late fee on it. I thought what the heck… So I checked my account and sure enough—the payment was made. Automatically out of my account. I pay that bill automatically on the last business day of a month—every month. Since years…

Bank of America has made itself a name for changing the due date and time! Just to ensure that some folks will be late. Be honest—when you have an automatic payment in place—how often do you really check the bill—to ensure that the payment due date didn’t change? (just check the web…)

The cancellation is on the way.
No Sears—I do not believe you that you value your customers. Neither does Bank of America (who actually tried to ignore my cancellation—twice…)
