Does this belong in production code…? - Answer

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

This should have been written as:
FirstRec := (cty='') and (st='');
  1. There should never be any inline comment.
  2. There shouldn’t be an IF statement to set a Boolean variable.

Economics—up or down?

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

With the recent news about more and more companies (some 8,000 at Dell, another 4,000 at Motorola—after the 3,500 announced in January, 850 at Circuit City, on top of 3,400 eliminated in March, et cetera) going to lay off people (why is that always seen as the only and best option to help a struggling company anyway?) and now Wal-Mart planning to trim store growth; at the same time reports that the economics rebounds…—what do you think:

Is the Economics going uphill or downhill?
