One judge in Bear’s clothing allowing him to attend the Super Bowl.

Bill Plaschke from the Los Angeles Times:
Chicago Bears defensive lineman Johnson points the finger at everyone for his multiple run-ins with police and flat-out refuses to apologize

It is an insult to all parents to imply that children can be defended only with guns.
You are right Bill, I feel insulted.

Bill asks some great questions—too many of them stay unanswered.

Personally I’d prefer if those players that are in trouble with the law face the same treatment as every other criminal. The message many can see is: As long as you are famous or rich enough—crime does pay.

The Chicago Bears still have the chance to do the right thing: Send Tank back home. But when everything is about money and money only—do you think that ethics and morals still are of any value?

Personally I question the judgment of a judge making a rule while clearly expressing his feelings about the Chicago Bears. One has to wonder how his ruling would have looked like when the player in question would be playing for the Indianapolis Colts…

How many criminals and lawyers will now ask to be treated the same way: “I need to go to another state for some important business…” ?

What happened to leadership?

What happened to be a role model to the Youth?

No matter who wins the game - who is really loosing here?

Privacy? Security?

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

A lot of time and money is spent to find the right solutions for companies to protect their data and keep them secure.

Since yesterday I have a very different outlook on it. What happened? I had to run an agenda and had to wait with a few others in line. Right next to me was a young man—busy on his Bluetooth. Within five minutes I knew that he thought very badly of his x-wife; was more than once at traffic court, and had—so far—always talked his way out of getting his license suspended. Still, he kept on speeding and collects tickets like collectibles… But most bothersome was that he talked so loud that you could hear him at least a block away!

Most of this information I would consider very private—yet you can see (and obviously hear) that most phone addicts have a different opinion.

Just imagine the damage employees can do to business—when they are as ignorant as this young man is.

Maybe it is time to rethink the whole approach how we keep information private and secure.

How many calls do you make in public?

And what do you talk about?

Do you think what you talk about is private?

What would you do for some chocolate?

More than 70% of people would reveal their computer password in exchange for a bar of chocolate, a survey has found.

What would you do for a chocolate bar?

How good are your passwords?

What Good Is A Degree?

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

Most of us grew up being told how valuable good education and a degree are. But is that still true?

I just talked with a student who will major this coming spring. She told me that she has already gotten used to be asked questions about education which shouldn’t already be asked when someone has an associate’s degree…

Isn’t that like the question: “Are you pregnant?” when the potential employee is male?

Anyway, she just came back from an interview with a fortune 50 company—extremely disappointed. But what really ticked her off was the offer she got: Cleaning crew, starting at $7 an hour.
How in God’s name am I going to pay back any student loan with that kind of income?
Do I really need a degree for that kind of work? Now if they would have offered me to manage the cleaning crew…

How many of those interviewers shouldn’t be interviewing—because they really dislike their job?

What value does an employee has that is put in the wrong position?

Why are so many managers still surprised by high turnover rates?
