Meaning that testing is not given the priority it deserves. One of the main reasons that projects fail is Inadequate Testing. Remember my Article What To Do When Your IT Project Is Late, Over Budget, and Looks Like It’s Never Going To Work? Right there is is standing:
4. Experience and studies show that testing is almost always pushed to the end of the development cycle. Since the development is usually bad, the testers run out of time. The result? Running over schedule and over budget. Not to mention the release of an inadequate product.
SOLUTION: Remember problem #1? Ditto! Yes, you have to make it to market before your competition. But if you make it to market and your product is filled with bugs, what do you get? A pile of returns and complaints, and a bad reputation. Test all the way through the process, and you’ll save a lot of time in the end.

I wrote that article in 2003. Think anything has changed since then ;) ?

COBOL?

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

Scene: Distant future, in a clinic where a cryogenics patient, who had had himself frozen in expectation of a cure for his illness, is being revived.

Patient: What year is it? How long have I been asleep? Tell me about the present.

Counselor: This is a little difficult to explain. A cure for your illness was found ages ago, but it was not considered a kindness to revive people from your era– too much of a culture shock. However, we do occasionally bring back a few if we think they can contribute to society.

Patient: I’ll do anything I can. What is it about me that makes me an asset? And you still haven’t told me what year it is.

Counselor: The year is 9998— and your biography says you were a COBOL programmer.

Anthony John Gray

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2008

A friend of mine has recently taken on the task of helping a British Artist get back on his feet again after a 12 year gap away from the market. See www.anthonyjohngray.com

His life was turned upside down when a business partner of his borrowed funds from the bank using Tony’s work as colllateral. This partner then left with the money leaving Tony with huge debts. He lost his home and financies and he and his family had to move into sheltered accomodation. For 5 years they went through a living hell of being poor and destitute. The only thiny that kept Tony sane was his painting.

He is now getting his life back in order and wants help to get his name known again.

If you take a look at his biography on the web site you will see that he did many art shows in the US and was even given a Honery Member of the Town of Palm Springs.

The stories behind each of his paintings is fascinating. I have asked him to start writting documents to describe each piece which will be sold with the work.
